A winter retreat was held in the Nulpureum Retreat Center, in Asan, South Korea from January 20-22, 2020 for Korean Pastor’s Kids (PKs).

This year’s retreat was particularly meaningful. The theme, “Jewel!” was based on Matthew 13:44: “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field” (NIV). This theme illustrated that PKs should not be identified with the frustrations or wounds they carry but instead should recognize themselves as the precious jewels they are. Further, they have the purpose of discovering the jewel of the Good News that is found in Jesus Christ, which allows them to live as children of God. This is our true identity!

A total of 85 PKs attended the retreat. There were accompanied by Korea District Superintendent Dr. Min-Gyoo Shin, Rev. Jin-Seo Gyu, assistant pastor Jeong-In Lee, missionary Jong-Seon Park, Rev. Eun-Do Kang, assistant pastor Seong-Min Nam and the others who served as instructors. On the afternoon of the second day, the attendees enjoyed sledding in the snow at Spavis Water and Amusement Park in Asan, in spite of the extreme cold weather. Both long-time PKs and first-time PKs participated, encouraging each other and offering kindness through large group meetings and peer group sessions.
