Making Disciples by Following Jesus and Including Others in our Journey of Grace
The Vision of the Discipleship Ministry
Jesus’ final words to his disciples, and to us, are the mission of the Church of the Nazarene: To make Christlike disciples in the nations.
“God’s primary plan for the Church is for disciples of Jesus to develop other men and women into disciples! There is probably no other more primary matter of negligence in the Church today than our failure to follow the Lord’s command to develop disciples. Because of this gross neglect, many Christians think of themselves as an audience to be entertained rather than an army ready to march…Discipleship must function as the heart of the church ministry.”

Filled with Father's love
Growing in Christlike character
Sensitive and obedient to the Holy Spirit's leading
Intentionally making disciples
“To carry out the Great Commission to children, youth, and adults in preparation for a lifetime of being and making Christlike disciples in the nations.”
To be a people devoted to prayer, engaged in the world, forming Christlike disciples who grow in faith, serve with compassion, and impact others for Christ.
To intentionally develop relationships with unreached people, leading them to become Christlike disciples who grow in faith and make other Christlike disciples.
To teach God’s Word to all ages, leading to salvation, spiritual maturity, and a life of compassion, evangelism, Christian education, and disciple-making.
To encourage everyone to faithfully engage in a discipleship ministry such as Sunday school/Bible studies, small groups, and other disciple-making ministries.
To reach the largest number of unchurched people for Christ and the church, bringing them into fellowship, teaching the Word of God effectively, and encompassing their salvation; teaching the doctrines of the Christian faith and developing Christlike character, attitudes, and habits; helping to establish Christian homes; preparing believers for membership in the church and equipping them for appropriate Christian ministries.
